of appeal of the Oromo Community in Berlin, occasioned by
the 10th anniversary of the TPLF/EPRDF
- We members of the Oromo Community in Berlin once again raise
our voice in order to bring the plight and agony of our people,
who are languishing under the unjust and authoritarian rule
of the TPLF/EPRDF regime in Ethiopia.

New chief of staff appointed - Maj-Gen Samora Yenus
has been appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Defence Ministry.
The former chief of staff, Lt-gen Tsadkan Woldetensae has
been droped from his post. The Air Force Commander, Maj-Gen
Abebe Teklehaimanot, has also been dropped from his post.

Journalists Freed From Detention
- Garuma Bekele and Tesfaye Deresa were released from the
central jail in Addis Ababa on 10 May after the High Court
said there was not enough evidence to detain them further.

discontent threatens Ethiopia’s ten-year-old government
- In April thousands of university students demonstrated
for academic freedom on their campuses. Unemployed youths
took the protest to the streets where the demonstrations degenerated
into the worst public disorder for years. Some 130 people
were killed—only 31, said the government.
