Three German Nationals Ordered to Leave Ethiopia

On July 25, 2000, the Ethiopian government ordered three German nationals to leave the country within twenty-four hours, according to a press release issued by the National Council of the Oromo Liberation Front. The German nationals were involved in evangelical, humanitarian relief, and community development work in Oromia.

The three individuals were identified as Mr. Willi Kambalach, Mr. Wolfgang and Mr. Gunther Shroader.  Mr. Willi was conducting evangelical work in Oromia in partnership with the Ethiopian Makane Yasus Church.  Mr. Wolfgang worked among Borana Oromos for many years.  In addition to preaching the Gospel, Mr. Wolfgang was engaged in humanitarian relief work and community development projects. Mr. Shroader who worked for a German church was also involved in development projects in Oromia region.  The three gentlemen are highly admired and respected by the Oromo community they served tirelessly.
